Before Your Dog Comes Home:

Purchase Before Our Lessons:

  • A light "small dog” leash to use as a “House Leash” to be left on in the home.

  • A Clicker and Training pouch for each member of the family,

  • A comfy dog bed, or even better, a raised cot (see other options below) that allows your dog to lay flat comfortably without having to curl up. We will use it for teaching the “Place” cue.

  • Bitter Apple taste deterrent that can be sprayed on the leash or objects they might chew.

Food and Treats

For Training

Use your dog’s daily meals, their existential food, for training, changing negative associations, and relationship building.

Instead of treats, I recommend using Beef or Lamb Stella and Chewy’s Meal Mixers, they are moist enough to break into smaller pieces. For fearful dogs that are not-so-food motivated dogs, the Savory Salmon & Cod Meal Mixers are especially motivating.

Other great options are Honest Kitchen Dry Toppers or Whole Food Clusters which are all biologically appropriate complete raw food diets, that can be used as their daily meal and as a high-value motivation.

Dry kibble is acceptable if your dog is motivated by the kibble.  If the kibble is not enticing enough, the recommendations above can be added to it.

Help with Diarrhea

Dog Beds

When teaching the “Place Cue” I recommend a raised cot, memory foam, or orthopedic thick foam bed with a clear boundary.
